MUIRHEAD TRUCKING INC. A DIVISION OF

TRANSPORTION MANAGEMENT & CONSULTANTS LTD.

ABOUT TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT & CONSULTANTS LTD

Established in 1946 as a packing company for peaches, we soon realized the need for a company owned fleet for distribution up and down the west coast of California. In the later part of the 1960’s sold the packing plant and moved to Dallas, TX in 1970 and opened a Dry Van & Bobtail division for Tappan appliances. At the time, handled the warehousing and department store routing, household good deliveries and set up for the majority of the appliances made. Even after their purchase by Frigidaire, was able to maintain service until 2002 at which point Frigidaire established their own fleet.

in 1986, by the request of our California associates and packers from 50’s and 60’s, re-established the produce division in Texas. At the time we were already operating a Ice Manufacturing plant and delivering Ice within a tri- county region. We then reopened the refrigerated transport division and since then have been contracted with such companies as Ramsey-Sias, Yoplait, Nestles, Dannon and Hagen Daaz. Commodities included IQF fruit, Ice cream, flavoring and fresh fruit.

We go above and beyond what is asked of us on a daily basis. Customer Service, Transportation, Account Management, Specialized Services, are just the few things that we concentrate on. Throughout our partnerships, we have always looked for better and more efficient ways of making our partners more profitable. We constantly look for ways to save our partners money, move product at more efficient means, and maintain the quality of services that our customers request and need on a daily basis.

Along with Muirhead Trucking Inc, our company owned fleet, we also offer to our Dedicated Contract Carriers a 24 hour roadside service and repair program to insure freight is delivered on time every time. This program, to our knowledge, is not offered by any other Logistic Company or Management Company throughout the industry. This service allows our carriers to get repaired in a timely matter so that the freight or the delivery is not jeopardized. The service includes truck, trailer, and refrigeration unit, and in most cases can be fixed and up and running in less than 2 hours. With these types of services, along with our dedication to customer satisfaction, we feel puts us above the rest when it comes to our capabilities. We feel strong that our partners feel the same way, and we will always continue to operate in the same methods to ensure our quality of service.

To date, T.M.C./Muirhead Trucking Inc. carries a 98% percent on time delivery ratio. With a driver turnover ratio of less than 21 percent. Both of these percentages are well below the industry norm, and with this type of success, our partners can assure themselves that they are in “Good Hands”.

DEDICATED CONTRACT CARRIERS

Transportation Management & Consultants Ltd. utilizes different carriers for different lanes depending upon volume and the type of service requested. At the time of processing and setting up a carrier there are several variables that we look at prior to contract approval. Our policies mandate the company maintain these minimum standards.

  • All carriers must have a min of $1,000,000.00 general liability insurance.
  • All carriers must have a cargo policy of no less than $100,00.00 which shall include continued service upon reefer breakdown or equipment out of service issues, and certificates or issued to T.M.C. as the certificate holder along with the customer.
  • All carriers must maintain a year 2004 or newer reefer unit and have air ride trailers for both box and flatbed equipment. All trailers must carry equipment (IE: straps, tarps and/or load locks) for securing product. All Reefers entering California must have California Air Resource Board compliant refrigeration unit.
  • All carriers must maintain an above average SafeStat Score issued Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
  • All carriers are requested to supply to us all service records from customers and/or references to verify services they have provided.
